My landlord asks me for liability insurance, Which company can sell me one?
The liability insurance is for the USA, and I am not a US Citizen, nor have any assets I could be sued for, so I want the most simple insurance plan that will cover 300K USD, it must be my primary liability insurance since I do not own a car in the USA or have any other liability insurance

Almost any insurance agent will also sell you renter's insurance, which is the equivalent of Home Owners.

All you need is a "renters" policy. It is a combination of protecton for your personal assets in the event of things like fire and theft, but ALSO has included want your landlord wants...LIABILITY. This is for your AND his protection in the event you are negligent and cause injury to someone. It has nothing to do with your car. Look under the phone book for insurance agents OR ask a USA friend to recommend an agent to you. These policies are usually not expensive and very affordable for what they do. Good Luck!

This is weird. I have never heard of a landlord asking liability insurance from a residential tenant; the landlord's own insurance covers risks of that kind. If you have a renter's policy (not a bad idea), it would presumably contain a liability element.

Many landlords are now requiring that their tenants carry liability. They do not have to rent to you if you don't have liability and there's nothing you can do about it other than live somewhere where it's not required.

You should get a renter's policy with the smallest amount of property coverage available. This will cost less than $15 per month. The liability will cover you off the premises as well.

Even if you don't have any assets a lawsuit can garnish your wages up to 30%. Nobody should be without liability in today's world.

Liability Coverage will come from a Renters Policy. Most Insurance companies in most states have $100k as an automatic policy feature.

It is easy enough to increase this base amount to $300k.

For State Farm in CA, it's $25 a year to increase the coverage to $300k.

Now, you still have the base amount of the policy to pay. The base premium will be calculated off of the value of the contents in your apartment. Contents include your clothes, TV, sofa, and everything down to your toothbrush.

I've seen a lot of people try to low ball that amount by saying, 'Oh, just $8000..." but When they have a loss they find out that it's more like $20k, so just be honest with the value of Personal Property in your Apartment.

Your landlord should not be asking you for that because you are not a US citizen or that you do not own a car or have assets. If your security deposit is not good enough for the landlord, find a new place to live and report him to your local fair housing board in the city you live. This sounds like a case of unfair discrimination and you may want to consult with a lawyer.
Many young people in the US (myself included) do not have a car, a large amount of money or assets and have no trouble finding a good place to live and are not required to show proof of renters insurance.

Go to a local insurance agent & ask for a tenants or renters policy. It covers contents & liability. It is inexpensive, usually $150-$200 per year depending on your contents limit & area you live. Then, when you buy the policy, give your landlord a copy. They want this to protect themselves. Two simplified examples: 1- If you invite someone over & they get injured in your apartment, you AND your landlord could be sued. If you have a tenants policy and what you did caused the injury, your policy would be primary. 2- If you accidentally burn down the place (leave a pot on the stove), the landlord's policy will pay him & then go after you for the damages, the tenants policy will pay for damages you cause, accidentally, to the building up to your policy limit.
