Depending on your state, all unclaimed funds will be turned over to the state after a set waiting period. Your state insurance commissioner should be able to identify you by your social security number (or your sisters) and tell you how much money is owed you.
Try contacting your state Insurance Commissioner, and the unclaimed funds department of your state. Here's a link to guide you to the proper website:

1. If it was through her place of employment, you can contact personnel, or human resources.
2. If she had an attorney, contact that person.
3. You could contact the city records, where she lived & explain the situation & ask if they know how people find moneys due them, or how to find a will.
Good Luck! |

They were supposed to contact you. Search her financial records to see where she made payments (cancelled checks, etc.) |

you need to know where she kept her papers. in order for you to get the payment, you need the actual policy. and you also need to submit a death certificate.important lesson here . keep important stuff like that in the safety deposit box at the bank |

If you have the life insurance policy the name and phone number would be listed on or in the policy itself.
If you have her old files try to check in her check book registry. She probably mailed checks to the life insurance company to pay the premiums. Look for the name of life insurance companies on her checks.
If not, see if you can contact here bank and maybe they can bring up old cancel check copies to find out who she sent the checks to for the life insurance policy.
The life insurance company should try to contact all beneficiaries on the policy once they know the insured has passed away. They have the name and social security number of the beneficiaries listed in the policy to contact them.
Are you sure your mother didn't let the life insurance policy lapse?
If the coverage was still "in force" when your mother passed away - you should contact the "Department of Insurance" in your state. You can find their contact information at http://www.naic.org There is a listing at this web site for all department of insurance offices in the U.S. Look on the left-hand column near the top of that page for "Links to Department of Insurance Web sites". Click on that link and find your state department of insurance.
Your department of insurance should have the funds available from this life insurance policy, if they have not already been paid out to the beneficiaries on the policy. Call them and ask about "Unclaimed funds" for a life insurance policy. They will probably ask your name and social security number and the name of the insured on the life insurance policy.
Also, the person who was the executor of her estate may have onformation regarding her last will and testament or it may be on file with your state.
Think about when she told you she left you life insurance - did she mention the company, who her agent was, where the company was located - anything about the policy at all? See if you can recall any specifics to help you with your search.
I hope that helps! Take care and best of luck! |

if this is a fact, there should be paper work somewhere - could it have been maybe through her Bank? If she died 5 years ago, why has someone not gone through her personal papers? Don't know what you can do w/out paper work to lead you in the right direction - Maybe an attorney could give you the right route to take or maybe an Internet site |
