if he's in the army check out USAA they offer insurance to only the armed forces maybe they will work with you. |

Dairyland is the only one i know of that still does a month to month policy. most are at least 6 months anymore. See if Dairyland writes where he lives, their rates are not bad. otherwise i would agree with the above, USAA is good for military |

The minimum duration of a car insurance policy, is mandated by EACH STATE. So, most states require a minimum of 6 months, some require a full year.
But, if he's in the army, he's going to get the best deal from USAA. www.usaa.com |

you can cancel an insurance policy at anytime with Allstate policy terms are 6 months in NJ but there is no minimmuim time you must keep the polciy |

It may depend on your state. You can start with any company and pay 3 months at a time or monthly and there is no committment to stay with them so you could cancel after a month. But you need to check with the company to see if there are any cancellation fees.
State Farm is very good about their monthly bills. I would try them first. Other companies may be good too, I just do not know about others. |

Insurance is mandatory for all cars that are registered with the motor vehicles...So, when your son is gone, return the plates and cancel the insurance....Just make sure you lock up your car good or else thieves would try to steal your sons car..... |

All policies are for one year, speaking only for California.
The policy can be canceled at anytime for various reasons. For example, non-payment, sold the vehicle, transferred title, etc. |
