The thief. Honestly.
Your employer is NOT responsible. Most employers do NOT carry coverage for employee's property on their premises.
And, the standard homeowners policy has a built in limit for your busines property - sometimes the coverage is for as little as $250.
So, you're going to end up eating this. Yes, I know, it's probably thousands of dollars of tools. If you want tool coverage, you either have to add it on specially to your homeowners policy and pay extra for it, or buy a seperate policy for it.

If something was stolen from you, you need to contact the police. Usually they can tell you what you need to do. Seeing as it was at your work, you would think they should pay for it. |

I used to be an agent in WI....... I bet if you file small claims in court ,,,,The Co would settle....... The problem is your WK might not like that you are suing them.............. Under you homeowners ins ,,,,,,,,,,I'm betting you don't have coveragee because you are using your tools for wk..... Find out who is their insurance company and file the claim directly with them. Document everything. |

The dealership's insurance will cover stolen items belonging to the dealership. Their insurance will NOT cover YOUR tools. That is your responsibility to insure. Contact your homeowner insurer for reimbursement. |

The owner probably stole your stuff. That's why they won't file a claim on your behalf. |

Some dealers will reimburse stolen tools if their insurance covers it. It depends on their insurance plan. Dont worry if you dont recover from the insurance company. Get the value of the stolen tools and that is tax deductible and when you buy new ones, that is again tax deductible so it's Uncle Sam who's gonna pay for your tools.
