I've been an insurance agent for 35 years and, because of the wording of your question I don't understand what you are asking well enough to give an answer. You don't drive on "comp" insurance, you are allowed to drive with liability insurance. If you have liability insurance and your daughter is on the policy and the state allows her to drive unaccompanied by an adult insured (meaning you as her parents) then your neighbor is safe to drive with her. His insurance has nothing to do with the equasion. Insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver in most cases and most states. |

When he drives your car he does not have fully comp insurance he only has third party insurance, so if he drives into a lampost you get nought.
Yes he can take your daughter out -as the driver she is insured for the car so any accident would be claimed on your insurance NOT his. |

If he is fully comp and has been driving more than three years, then there shouldn't be a problem. |

Agree with previous answers (except westwind's answer which is US based and totally wrong for the UK) the best thing to do is to 'phone and talk to your company.
Chances are yes it's all fine, but it's best to
a) be 100% sure for legality
and perhaps more importantly (as it probably is OK legally)
b) check that the cover will be fully comp with your daughter driving as a learner. as others have said your neighbour will only be Third Party on your car. If not it might be wise to get your neighbour added as a named driver on your policy. You could find it isn't that expensive at all especially when you take into account the extra piece of mind. You can always say 'thanks, but no thanks' after all. |

The supervising driver must be insured as he is legally classed as in charge of the car, As your daughter is named on your policy and his policy insures him to drive the car you are legal,
Although you have full comp insurance whilst your neighbour is driving your car it is only insured on a thrid part basis, (it will tell you this on his insurance policy)
Mine says I am insured on a third party basis to drive any vehicle with the owners permission. |
