National health insurance proposal?
Health insurance like any insurance such as home, or auto insurance should be a personal policy not job related. Insurance by traditional definition is a sharing of risk. Uninsured Americans should be grouped as to insurable but uninsured , higher risk, and poor. The uninsured would be offered a pool by all insurance companies offering health insurance in the designated area as a last resort with premiums averaging those of offered by insurance companies in the state or bi state region. Higher risk would be pool insured also at a 10% higher premium. Poor or unemployed would be insured in a pool of the same insurance companies at heavily discounted premiums say 10% depending on assets.

Please explain to me, how an insurance company can make money paying out $10,000 a month in medical bills, while taking in $500 a month in premium. That's what you're proposing.

A site I've used for quotes in the past ...

Hope that helps.

Wouldn't work!! Once again, it's not the purpose of our government to be "big brother" and force the insurance companies to cover everyone.

Of the 47 million Americans who are uninsured, how many make $40,000 or more each year? According to the survery I looked at, about half. That means that about 23 million people could've afforded insurance if it were a priority of theirs. Insurance IS a priority of mine, so I have it. I agree that there are SOME people out there that fall through the cracks and need some help. I think we should help them. However, I think that the majoiry of uninsured Americans have placed bigger houses, new cars, and HDTV's ahead of their insurance needs...and THAT"S NOT MY PROBLEM!!!! We've all made sacrifices at one point or another to get something we NEEDED and gave up something we WANTED. I think it's time more Americans learned to sacrifice their lifestyle for their well-being and quit shifting the burden to you and me simply because they think it's their right!!

This does not seem to be a question.

OK, most of the uninsured but insurable are uninsured at THEIR CHOICE. So, you want to make them pay it? How will you do that?

And . . .higher risk. Let's think about the numbers. Right now, health care costs average $7,000 per person, per year. Premiums probably average around $350 a person. So you've got a high risk person - who is going to cost several times that $7K a year, and you're going to charge them an extra $35? Who picks up the $25,000 difference, per person?? And who picks up the tab for the "heavily discounted" premium for the poor and unemployed?

Insurance companies pay out about $.99 for every $1 they take in, in premium. If you ask THEM to subsidize it, they'll go out of business.

I'm all for national health coverage, as long as they do it right. In the other countries that have it, so have better systems than others. FOr example Denmark and Switzerland are to two best systems. If We can go by those, then I'm all for it.
