That's called, disability coverage and savings account. The disability coverage usually has a 30 day waiting period, and you have to be healthy when you buy the policy.
If you're sick longer than 30 days, you can apply for social security disability coverage. |

If you're self employed, the only sick pay you'lll get is if you have disability insurance.
Unless you're so sick & poor you qualify for welfare/medicaid. |

If you are talking about income protection from when you are off sick. You can have this after only one day off work. You need to talk to a good Independent Financial Adviser. couple of website www.thepremiergroup.co.uk or www.moneyfax.biz. If you want to know if you can claim if off sick as self employed it depends on what NI you have paid. I have just claimed. Contact your local benefit dept |

If you are off sick now - get a sick note, and then speak to the Inland revenue / tax office. You at least need to get your National Insurance covered.
If you are looking for insurance cover, ring a few insurance brokers and get quotes. |
