kristen | No insurance? |
I dislocated my elbow last night and was in the ER all night. I have no insurance and not a lot of money. I qualified for charity assistance but now i need to go to the orthopedic doctor they referred me to and I have no idea how to go about paying for that with no insurance??? This office also says all visits must be paid for at the time of service. What should I do? |

see if your city offers any type of medical assistance programs for people with no health insurance if they do go and apply there are eye doctors and orthapedic drs. who are able to set up payment plans just talk to them |

If you are covered by your state's Department of Health and Welfare, it should also cover the orthopedic physician.
Talk to someone at the office and explain your situation. They may help you in applying for assistance.
BTW, where were you, and what were you doing when you were injured? If you were on someone else's property when you got hurt, their medical payments coverage may pay, up to the limit in the policy.
If it takes more than the medical payments on the policy to cover your treatments, then you can file claim on their liability coverage.
The property owner does not have to be negligent in order for medical payments to cover medical bills.
Best wishes and God bless.

Unless his office is willing to give you a cash discount, you may have to resort to being seen at a county facility that has fee schedule's on a sliding scale based on your income. Another option is finding a teaching facility in your area. Sometimes, doctors will also accept the charity care approval, but you need to find out what orthopedic doctors are on staff at the hospital you were in (call the hospital-they can tell you) and call their offices to see if they do accept it. Depending on your state and their eligibility requirements, you may qualify for medicaid... |

Yeah for James....yes rainman it's like comparing a girlfriend to a 'lady of the evening' you pay either way, but sometimes you at least know what you're getting and how much you're paying.
I think I'll take US health care over any other country thank you very much.
Oh, and as far as the answer to your question sorry I don't know unless the doctor would set up a payment plan for you. Call your local gov't to see if they have any programs...mine does. |

Well, you call the orthopedic and ask them for a cash price, and pay it. Sell your computer, or your car, or whatever. Then you get a second job, save your money, and buy it back.
Or, just don't go to the orthopedic. If they popped your elbow back in, it's probably going to be fine. Probably. |
