No win No Fee??????? Any advice please?
Hi. Has anyone used one of these companie's? If so how long do they take to sort things out. Very briefly, had an accident at work, got a Solicitor on the case just wondering how long before it's dealt with. Many thanks.

Took a year from start to finish. Lots of red tape.

my partner got clipped by a bus when he was on the path and he used one of these companies, it took around 18months and a lot of signatures here and there, not to mention umpteen phonecalls but he did recieve 2000 pounds so he thought it was worth it :(they took a fee of 500 from that)

I would never advise using one of these. They will sting your a**, even if you do not win the case. My sister's fiance used one, and when he was told that there was not enough evidence to proceed with the case, and was advised to drop it, he was then told that he could be charged with making a false claim, and he had to pay the fees. DON'T USE THEM! If there was injury caused by criminal negligence, and you live in the UK, then I would suggest you use the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority. It was set up in 2001, by the Government, for victims of crime and injury. I have used it, and the whole process was free. It has taken two years though to get my claim through. Good luck with it!

It depends on how serious the accident was, if there was an insurance company involved, weather the company you worked for is morraly and financially sound etc...

It could take months or even sometimes years...

The thing with the no win no fee solicitors or attorneys as we call them here in the US is that they take a HUGE percentage of anything that you win.. Here in the US sometimes 70-95% of it goes to the Solicitor... that's HUGE and ridiculaous.. I don't like these kind of solicitors because to them it's about the money and not about you...

be careful before you sign anything with them for you may be setting yourself up to receive very little..

Take care!

I used to work for the Accident Group and from what I remember they had a tam of solicitors that worked on their behalf. Claims were vetted to make sure they could win, those that were too weak were rejected.

If a claim didn't win compensation the idea was that the insurance on the policy would underwrite itself and pay the costs off. If it was won and a compensation claim was paid the company would take out their fees and the rest was payable to the person. The rough time was about 3 months from what I recall but this was down to the correct evidence being collected and processed etc etc.

However, as we know they went famously bust. The exact reason I wasn't sure of but from what I was told they were expecting a loan from a bank to cover the wages for that month. A few days before the bank pulled out. I went to work expecting to go and pay my bills etc etc and I was told by the others in my team that we'd gone bust. If that wasn't bad enough (no we didn't get paid) I then had £350 of bank charges due to my DD's being returned. The bank suspended my account.

Thankfully I got the charges refunded but until I had some money coming in my bank account was suspended.

I don't like this blame culture and would never work for that kind of company again.
