Once you submit a claim how long does the insurance company have to pay you?(car ins,)?
It's an undefined, "reasonable" amount of time. And it's going to depend on 1. the coverages you have 2. the type of claim you filed 3. the circumstances of the claim and 4. the cooperation you give them.
Oh, and if it's your insurance company, or the other guy's. The OTHER guy's insurance has NO responsibility to actually pay you, until a judge says they have to - and THEN they have 30 days.

they usually don't pay you. they pay the repair place and rental car company if you used one - you might cosign the check but they usually send it to the garage

There maybe something in your small print, but most do not have a time limit. If they drag it out or make a silly / low offer mention you will refer them to the Insurance Ombudsman.
It usually jollys them along as it costs them a small fortune to co-operate with their investigation.

Check your policy. It might be in there. They have a reasonable about of time to investigate the matter before they make a decision IF they will pay you.

It depends on the circumstances of your claim.
There is no rule anywhere that says a claim has to be paid with in X days.
If it is a first party claim (coll/comp) they will have to inspect your car first.
If it is a third party claim (liability) they will have to do an investigation into the loss and determine liablitiy. During this process, they will inspect your vehicle.
