Nico | Options other than Primerica? |
I've been told to look beyond Primerica because of their products and pay structure. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other financial services companies that allow reps to be part-time/work-from-home. I am a full-time underwriter (P&C) currently but have always entertained the idea of financial planning. My degree is in finance and I have an MBA as well. There is a strong possibility that I would love doing financial advising full time but I'm not in a situation where I can make the leap to it full time yet. |

What you need to do is find a broker-dealer that would be happy with a lower level of production. Most require a minimum of around $30000 gross dealer concessions (GDC). This will be your hardest part of the equation.
Then find a life brokerage agency that you trust and can help you learn the ropes. Most of these organizations do not have minimums, but your pay generally increases with higher production. Check out NAILBA.org to find one near you. |

Most Primerica reps don't know enough to realize how ignorant they are.
Almost every Financial Services guy I know got started at Raymond James or Edward Jones. I say got started because after 5 years or so, most of them moved out on their own to make more money on the independent side. With your education, you should impress either one.
They're usually interviewing in my area, I'd start with them or find who their competition is in your area and inquire.
Oh, and I think they offer group health insurance. Want to make a Primerica RVP shut up at 100 MPH, ask about health insurance; it's fun to watch them stutter. |

Are you listening to others or have you checked them out? I ask because I am a Rep with them.
Would you be happy with a doctor who diagnosed a condition over the phone and the first time he saw you was on the operating table?
What have you heard about them? I will answer as best I can. I am still learning. Find another company that has been around for thirty years and has 100K plus reps in US, Canada, and Spain and I would say check them out.
I could only ask you to go to an opportunity meeting.
We also have health insurance so that can be taken off the list of why not. Edward Jones and the others do not teach how to own your own business. Do you want ownership or do you want to be under the thumb of a company? |

Your other options?
1) You can keep your current job until you quit, get laid off, or get fired.
2) You can work for other financial companies that does only parts of what Primerica can do. You don't get to build your business at other financial companies. You build it for them. If you don't work, they fire you. At Primerica, you build your business and you control what you want to do with it. |

I'm a Primerica Rep, BUT i agree with the other gentlemen, your education thus far would be very appealing to the "franchise" financial services companies, i cannot speak for those listed.But i do know that right now, you could sign with Primerica, get all your licenses for a lot less than what you would pay to go out and get them alone.Does E.J. and R.J offer to help with your licensing cost?Are you sure financial services is what you want to do? There is no contract to make you stay with Primerica, you could get all your licenses and disapear.I Joined Primerica broke, no money for classes and liscensing costs, now i have them AND i'm not broke anymore.Just something to think about. |
