My mom is having the same problem. Humana called her to tell her that she only has $300 left before she has to start paying for all the prescriptions she buys. We did notice that CVS began to raise the prices once she got on Humana. I think that stinks since it causes your insurance allowance to not go as far. One of her prescriptions jumped $50 as soon as the Humana program kicked in. I think the pharmacies are responsible for why the seniors are having such a problem. Maybe everyone should write to their senators and asked for an investigation into why that is happening. This is a gross inflation of pricing. Go to Walmart if you can and get as many of your drugs on their $4.00 program generic program.
As one person suggested getting the cheaper generic drugs, but some of the drugs are not available in generic, and some of the generic drugs cause problems. One generic drug caused my mother to lose her hair. As soon as she went back on the name brand drug, her hair grew back. All generic drugs are not the same as the name brand. I know, as I used to work as a pharmacy technician II supervisor. I am very careful what my mother takes. |

During Montel show on TV they put a commercial on to help people with medication -- it's somehow sponsered by Montel --- watch his show and call the number. It sounds pretty good and might be able to help. My heart goes out to you -- I was laid off - can't even go to a doctor to get blood pressure meds -- the meds aren't expensive but the appointment is. So I could have a stroke and oh well.....that's life, right? SUCKS BIG TIME -- I wish you the very best though!! |

Maybe there are cheaper generic medicines that you could switch to...your pharmacist should be able to help you with that. That is the only option I can think of though. Good luck! |
