Personal Tom Tom stolen from company vehicle?
my partner had to use my tom tom for work at the company's request, as they stated that he had to provide his own. he was away on a trip to france, and had the curtains drawn in the cab, while he took a rest break. the cab was gassed and while he was in there, thieves stole the tom tom and his new mobile phone worth £300. while we have claimed on the phone through his own Private insurance we are trying to get the company to replace the tom tom as it was their request he had it. They are now refusing to replace it as they said if they replace his, then everyone else might try and "lose" items claiming they had been robbed???
can someone tell me if we have a claim against them?
ps. my partner had notified the British consulate and has a crime Reference for the robbery.

His personal insurance will cover it and the company don't legally have to cover personal belongings even though they requested that he took it.

His personal insurance should cover it.
but if the company just requested it and not demanded they do not need to pay for it.

the company should replace it but companies get rich by taking their employees for a ride. you probably spend more money trying to get it back than a new one will cost. I think your friend has a bit of liability here

I really don't think you will get your money from the company as you have already placed a claim to a private insurance company. However if you do manage to get it lucky you.
