If you have to have part of your nose removed due to skin cancer, restorative surgery is covered.
If you lose it because a dog bites it off, it's covered.
If it's pure cosmetic (aka, voluntary), it's not covered.
Insurance covers to fix it back up. Not to "fix it." |

I'd start with an Ear, Nose and throat doctor. There may be a medical reason that would cover part of the cost. However, most of this surgery can't be justified and is considered cosmetic. Start saving. |

Insurance will cover if it isn't elective. For example, a breast reduction IF a person has significant back pain and it interferes with quality of life. This is why many who get gastric bypass get the follow-up skin removal covered - the skin is a detriment to their life (can rub, become raw, grow infections, etc.)
In the case of a rhinoplasty, you'll have to convince a doctor that the nose needs to be fixed...maybe you are having problems breathing or sleeping (I think this is why Cameron Diaz said she just had her nose done - previous breaks made it hard to breathe).
But if you can't, sorry, it will not be covered. |
