It depends what type of insurance you're after (home, travel, pet, life, car etc.)
Try an insurance comparison site like Money Supermarket http://www.moneysupermarket.com/insurance/ and you'll get a list of the main insurers whose sites they check when getting you an online quote.
Here are some of the main ones they claim to cover under the link for their home insurance check...

Norwich Union are NOT an insurance broker they only offer their own products.
None of the companies listed in the above answer are brokers with the exception of Endsleigh.. If you are looking for a broker who will search the market & recommend a suitable policy with a reputable insurer- search in you local area on yell.com or look at the BIBA website.

If you don't want advice but just the very cheapest quote then go on the internet search engines with people like Shelias Wheels etc. - I would recommend you always try a broker anyway as Direct Line et al. are by no means always lower than an insurance broker. A broker will often be able to save you money & give good cover at the same time.
Brokers are also responsible for the advice they give you - so can be held accountable. When you insure direct to the insurers (Direct Line, Norwich Union etc.) you are on your own as you accept the policy as seen without any advice. |

Do you want the agency or the company?? If you want an agency, you will need to let us know where you are (state, country, etc) because most agents are only licensed in a limited number of states (ours is in a border town & are licensed in 3 states only). If you want a company, the best known are probably Allstate, State Farm, Progressive, GEICO, Nationwide, AIG, Chubb & Lloyds of London! Some are direct writers, some only work with independent agents, & Lloyds of London is a surplus line carrier that works with surplus lines brokers. You can just type the name in your search engine & you should be able to find the company website relatively easily. |
