As already explained by other posters, indemnity is your coverage against losses with the intention of putting you back into the position you were before the loss/damage - at least, that's how it's supposed to work in theory.
Some insurance companies (not many these days, mind) confuse the issue slightly by using the word indemnity to describe a policy that is not 'new for old'. |
