Question about life insurance policy's... ?
If I took out a life insurance policy and died of a result of suicide would the beneficiaries be able to collect the death benefit. I know some policy's have a suicide provision and that provision is in some cases 2 years. My question is....are there any policy's that have a suicide provision period shorter?
Why not look around for such an insurance?
And if you don't find anything, can't you wait two more years??
Tom Z
..... are there any policy's that have a suicide provision period shorter?
No, because there is no advantage gained by an insurance company to reduce the exclusion period. If a company reduced the period of time it would only serve to attract applicants who are in a state of depression. Not what you would call a smart marketing move.

The minimum contestable period, where the suicide exclusion applies, is two years.
You're not going to find it shorter than two years, and in some states, it will be longer.
Insurance Pickle.com
2 years is the standard and there are none that are shorter than that unless required by the state.

No. There are no shorter periods. And, why would one look for one unless they were planning suicide?
So, the answer is NO.

2 years is the standard timeframe. However, this doesnt stop you from looking for online quotes and comparing the details.
