Guy | Question about state farm auto insurance? |
My payment was due on the 1st, and now it's the fifth. I just paid it today through online banking. The bank says it may not be processed until tuesday, but i have to get to work before then. Am i fine, since it was technically paid today, or am I just f*cked? |

Was it due, or was your policy in cancellation status? If it was only "due" and not in cancellation status, you should be fine. If it was in cancellation status, it's cancelled on the first, and you shouldn't drive. |

It depends on if it was your normal scheduled payment, or if it was past-due or in cancellation. If it was your normal, scheduled payment (whether 6 months premium or monthly, as long as the monthly was up-to date), you are fine. If it was past due, you need to check with your agent to find out your time frames. If it was in cancellation, it canceled and you currently have no insurance.
Call your agent - that is what they are there for! |

i am not sure how state farm does their billing or any type of grace periods they may have. call your agent and ask them. in the future, make your payments at your agents office. if your agent accepts payment, you are covered. |

I love state farm and have had them for 12 years, never a problem on that note, no you are fine you have to pay one month a head of time if you do not do direct withdrawal from your account. This will keep your insurance in go status until the end of the month and since you paid you do not have to worry about it being shut off.
I do mine as an automatic withdrawal it is month to month, but you do not have to pay two months at a time, just to let you know, but really you are not f*cked ; ) |

No, you should be fine. You generally have a grace period of anywhere from 10-30 days, depending on the company. Just for good measure, I would call their customer service number and let them know to expect your payment. |

I would call state farm and tell them whats going on, and it should be fine if they are a good company, but they need to know. |

You should have a ten day grace period depending on where you reside . Call your insurance carrier to be safe but you should be OK . Even if they didn't receive it in time , they will reinstate your policy as soon as they get your payment and post date the policy back to when the payment was made . Again contact your carrier and explain your situation to them and I am sure they will be able to help you . Good luck and drive safely !!! |

Technically, it is not paid until it reaches them (same as if you send it by mail and the post office has not delivered it), so the policy is currently unpaid. On the other hand, if it takes at least ten days after the due date before they cancel the policy for nonpayment, then you may be ok. |

most companies offer a grace period, but they are not required to do so. I would notify the company, call there 800 number that has someone there 24 hours per day and let them know what is going on. Once it has been documented you should be shifting the responsibility to them. Otherwise you could technically be uninsured. Good Luck. |

truth is...

Were you paying your 6 month premium or just making a monthly payment? Most auto insurance companies have you pay your premium to extend your contract with them, but they won't void if you're just late on a payment. That's just my assumption! But, if I were you, I'd just go to work, but drive very.... carefully.... :) Good luck!!
BTW, I did a lot of research on auto insurance companies (legitimacy, price, ease of use) and I found Geico to be the best, just in case you are interested.... but, my dad likes State Farm because you get to have your very own agent... |
