So I was out of town during the time of year when we were to update our benefits package. I realized that I am covered thru blue cross for my health and dental, but eye coverage is not on my plan. I've normally always had all three, but for whatever reason this time it wasn't included. So is there somewhere afforable that I can get a plan for me and my two girls? I am going to need my eyes checked soon. I really hate that I missed open enrollment, but there isnt much I can do now. lol. All answers are greatly appreciated...

I write Spectra plans, it is good coverage...
However, you may want to wait until open enrollment and get it from your employer for less than a private plan. You generally have to stay in these private plans for a year so check with your employer first to see what month you can add it. |

there should b no reason of y u can't add it 2 ur current plan. U can add or take away anything on ur current plan @ anytime of the year-u r paying 4 it 2 ya know.
I also just saw a commercial on TV, I live in New York-there is also some insurance plan called "ican", it is $170.00 a month for an individual and then $270.00 a month for a family. It said in the commercial that it covers a-lot of things, such as maternity & all, but when it said much more I don't know if that includes vision? |

I have Spectera eye insurance ... they are pretty good ... they pay something for exams, a good bit on frames. etc. You should google, or live search vision insurance. |

Vision exams are not that expensive. Try the Lenscrafters-associated optometrists if you're near one. |

Depending on the plan, you may be able to be added outside of open enrollment. It can't hurt to ask your Benefits person. I know that I have added three employees who missed enrolling during our open enrollment, without any issues from Eye Med (which is part of the Lens Crafters company). It can't hurt to ask. |

I haven't seen a private vision policy that pays out more than it takes in. You're probably best off just to go to Costco and pay out of pocket. According to Consumer Reports, Costco was the best for glasses. |

In my expeience you can't just have eye coverage.
You will have to add it to your current plan.
Have you talked to your employers about this?

There are a lot of companies that are good but the question is which one is most commonly accepted with most dental offices. I would call around to different dentist offices and to see which plans they accept.
