Kristy B | Received bill from dr. that says i need to pay, but i had insurance then. what should I do? |
I had to get a tetanus shot back in the summer and i only had temporary insurance between college and a teaching job. the insurance definetly covered it, and they made a copy of my card and charged me the copay at the office. But in the past few months I've been getting $250 bills from the doctors office. I no longer have that insurance, but I have a teachers state plan. How is the best way to handle this situation? |

Well, ask the doctor to resubmit the bill to the insurance company. And call the insurance company, and ask why they didn't pay the bill.
You likely had a DEDUCTIBLE. Did you meet it? My guess is, that visit was under your deductible, and you'll have to pay it. |

Many doctors bill the patient without waiting for the insurance company to act. I ignore them until I get the statement from my insurance company letting me know what they paid. If you have not received a statement (Explanation of Benefits) from the insurance company, they may either have never received the bill or still not processed it. After this period of time, it's more likely that the doctors office never sent it. I really doesn't matter whether they didn't send it or whether the insurance company lost it. At this point, we are not trying to place blame; just to solve the problem. Ask the doctor's office to resubmit the claim for you and copy you. Independently, you can drop the insurer a note including a copy of what the doctor sent you so they know they are getting pressure from both sides. Good luck!! |

if already paid the bills you can claim from insurance company or you first show your insurane bond to dr office nothing to worry |

You need to call the doctor's office, & ask them what the $250.00 is for... Is it your deductible? Maybe the shot isn't a copay service... Maybe the doctor's out of the network? Find out what its for. Call the insurance. Did they pay it? |

Get hold of the insurance. Find out why they didn't pay. Maybe they are looking for something simple to settle. It is your job to make sure that they follow thru with the doctors office and pay. |

Contact the dr's office right away and give them your insurance information. Then they can submit it to your insurance company for payment. Hope this helps! :) |
