No - the no claims bonus can only be used once (to be fair - would you expect you to lose all your no claims bonuses on every policy if you had an accident in one vehicle?)
Be very careful about buying insurance under these circumstances. Make sure that:-
1) The person who owns the car insures it &
2) If the main driver of the vehicle changes then make sure that the insurance company knows about it.
Most insurers will automatically rate the vehicle on the son's age anyway. |

What you are referring to is called 'fronting' and Insurance Company's are wise to the fact that the small, second car is really for your son to use and be the main driver of.
This is why they load the premiums for this type of situation.
If they find out your son is the main user and you haven't declared he will be the main user then your insurance will be void.
For the sake of a couple of hundred pounds extra you should insure the car in your sons name and he can start building up his own no claims bonus legally and then if there is an accident he won't find himself getting in trouble with the police for having no insurance (which he wouldn't have if the insurance company found out he was using the car more than your husband) |

Just been thru this. I bought a car for my wife, but my current Insurance company would not let me add to my current policy, as I was not going to be the main driver. So I had to use a different company, and they would not let me use my 10 yrs of NCB for the second car. They said that if I di this, then the initial policy would become void....
Not quite sure why, but I think I got a little bit ripped off. |

Most companies now give you the same discount on the second car as long as you insure with the same company.
Best thing to do is to call them up. |
