Should I yell at the insurance company?
I'm very frustrated at this point. Two years ago I got braces, at the time I was still living on the east coast. I then moved to California halfway during treatment and learned that my insurance was not going to cover treatment after my transfer (even under their providers). I still needed the braces at the time so I found a seperate orthodonist and paid for all treatments as though I had no insurance. Its been almost a year now and I need the braces removed. However, I cannot afford to remove them and my insurance still won't cover for any ortho procedures.
Should I be a pacifist about all of this? I've spent quite a lot of money on treatment w/o the help of insurance. Now I'm in a rut, stuck with braces even though I don't need them anymore and I feel as though no one will help me.

Perhaps I didn't explain enough. I am STILL paying my insurance for orthodonic coverage. The only problem is, different states have different rules and because I moved, they won't cover for me. Even if I wanted to "start over" in a new state, I still have to get my old braces removed. How would I pay for that?

How would "yelling" at anyone possibly help? Your insurance does not cover orthodontia. Plain and simple. Your choices are either to pay for it yourself, or to leave the braces on, or to go to work for a different company that offers a better dental plan.

yell at the company all you want. You know they do not cover that. Arrange a payment plan with the Dentist

Do you ever consider going to McDonalds, and yelling at the person in the drive thru window because they aren't giving you a Big Mac that you didn't BUY?

Because that's what you're talking about doing - yelling at an employee, because YOU didn't buy the coverage for something that YOU want done. Even if it was your employer who actually got to select the benefits.

Not very nice.

But if you've PAID for all the treatment with the new orthodontist, there's NO REASON they wouldn't remove the braces. They only refuse to remove, if you OWE THEM MONEY.

Yelling at insurance isn't going to get your braces off. Getting your balance paid to the orthodontist, might.

Go ahead and yell. It won't change anything. Then grow up and take responsibility for your life.

Find a dentist who will let you make payments for the final stages of your care in this case. A dental school might also be willing to take you on pro bono as a way for their students to get practice. There may be some dental financing plan available through the orthodontists as well that you could work with.
