Should Medicaid cover patients who go to the ER for pregnancy tests?
Should Medicaid cover patients who go to the ER for pregnancy tests?
Of course not, since you can get a pregnancy test kit at Walgreens for about $10 or so.

Should they? Probably not. But Medicaid patients tend to go to the ER for ridiculous things...why, I have no idea, since they actually would have coverage just to schedule a darn doctor's appointment and be seen in the office.
Though at least on the bright side, Medicaid would not reimburse the hospital the full cost for an ER visit. (At least, not in my state.) If a Medicaid patient came through our ER for a pregnancy test, we might get $25-30 total for the visit.
At least its not costing the state an arm and a leg to cover those tests. $25-30 isn't too bad, considering that it would cover a physician to consult with the patient (and hopefully strongly advise her of the importance of seeking regular prenatal care, if she is pregnant) and the cost of the test itself.

Depending on situations. You are eligibile for medicaid if you are pregant and fall under income requierments set by your state. Without a confirmation of pregnancy you are not eligible. Meaning you have to have a dr state you are pregnant before you can recieve this type of medicaid. Going to the store and taking a test and coming out positive doesnt have any lee way on paper for a medicaid application.
