The problem with nationalized health care is that the overall quality declines. It really is true that one gets what one pays for. It could mean mediocre care for mediocre illnesses, substandard care for rare illnesses unless you can afford to pay for private health care.
It would be nice if all people could be insured somehow, but having us all on the same plan that is paid for by the government is not the answer. |

i personally do like the idea of a government health insurance program. they kind of work. in the other countries that have them cnanada sweden are the ones i know for sure the rich purchase additional health insurance so that they can actually be seen before the normal 18 month wait time for a doctor visit.
i know that you are saying health insurance but why add that middle man. why not just have government hospitals and clinics with government doctors that take care of people for free instead of paying an administrator to run a money movement scheme.
youve seen the DMV what would a health care place look like. |

Although this sounds like a good idea its been proven in Canada and England that free medic en is like anything you get for free, its not worth it. The waiting time to see Docs is awful. If you need an operation unless its a real emergency you have to wait for a long time. rich people in these countries have payed health insurance and use that. Canadians are always coming to America to get medical treat meant |

If you follow the costs, no one but the top 10% will be able to avoid basic coverage starting in 2012. Soooo yeah, it is eventuality at this point. |

NO...N-O...NO! The best way to completely screw up a healthcare plan is to involve the Federal Government. Socialized healthcare results in long waits for care. Hope you don't mind standing in line like you do at the DMV! While there needs to be a safety net for the poor, elderly and young (which there already is) trying to have the government administer a nationwide healthcare program that covers all citizens is a recipie for disaster. |

Yes there MUST be a nationwide health insurance program only if it is backed up by security of quality services |

that will make our national debt skyrocket to 20 trillions, and I bet you at that point, USD will suffer a major devaluation.
Hopefully that will set up an equilibrium for the US to be competive again. |

I agree. Canada has one, you could look into the specifics of that.
of course, we will never get one because the people who make such decisions are all rich enough to get thier care and they don't give a sh1t about anyone else.
John Kerry proposed it in a debate once before it was pushed aside in favor of voting whether boys should be kissing or not. |

I say no, the medical companies will raise their prices because insurance has to pay it. I had a bill send to me by mistake, I had them resend it you my insurance company and they doubled the price. FOR THE SAME THING. Not to mention that taxes will skyrocket as well. Competition is the only thing that will keep cost down. I know a portion of the money of drugs goes toward research of new drugs which is good, but still. |

YES ABSOLUTELY! WE HAVE ONE IN CANADA. ONLY THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO TURN OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM INTO A PRIVATE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM LIKE THE STATES. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT CANADA IS A ROLE MODEL FOR OTHER COUNTRIES IN REGARDS TO THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. |
