They are allowed. But they do pay much higher rates. |

They also spend a significant amount of money on insurance policies.
I think if an insurance company is willing to ensure them, then they have the right to insurance. |

Yes. I could get killed in a car accident tomorrow. You take risks every day- let's all get insured.---
f-that! I'm adding on... |

That's esentially the definition of insurance, you're hedging your bet against death...and certainly their chances are higher so the pay for the premiums accordingly |

I think they pay extra to do this |

Everyone should have the right to life insurance. But yes, their premiums should be higher to compensate for the higher risk of death that they face. |

If they pay for it, they should be able to get it! It is just as dangerous to drive down the road everyday, if not worse! |

Yes crazy, everyone deserves it even though they do stupid stuff like that. Some people have dangerous jobs and they cant help that and they deserve life insurance. So i say yes even though they do ridiculous stuff they need life insurance too:) |

yup, but they have to pay mighty high rates, so as to compensate for the higher risk and chance of passing away before the maturity of the insurance :) |

Sure. The life insurance helps the families, not the person involved (because he or she would be dead). So to cut the family from that money for a political statement wouldn't really be fair now would it? |

Ha Ha . life insurance is the name a salesman gave it becuase no one would buy death insurance which it actually is |

Of course they should be able to have life insurance. However their rate should be reflected in their lifestyle.

Of course they should. Just because they live their lives in a different way - more "dangerously" - doesn't mean they shouldn't be insured. That's like saying truck drivers shouldn't have motor vehicle insurance because they are on the road more so they are more apt to be in an accident, ya know? |

You could die walking across the street. I don't think you should not be able to get life insurance even if you are a "higher risk" just because you live what you think is a safe life doesn't mean you will out live someone who takes risks. |

Sure, why not? Like anyone else, however, their premiums should reflect the risk taken on by the insurance company.
If someone engages in risky behavior, they ought to pay higher premiums for life and/or health insurance. |

Definitely! These real-life heroes should be given due priority even by insurance companies. It's our society that motivates and / or demotivates. |

Insurance companies factor in the risk when determining policy cost and insurance companies like banks don't take risks. That's why they make money.
Perhaps a better question might be. Should homeowners be allowed to purchase insurance? In many areas they are not allowed to. |

It's up to the insurance company. Generallly, ANYONE can buy life insurance, if they're willing to pay enough for it. If you're 80 and dying of cancer, you can buy a $100,000 life insurance policy - for $110,000.
So it's not up to YOU or US or THEM or congress. Let the free market decide what the odds are, and price it accordingly. |

you have a greater chance of dying by eating fatty foods than doing those things. |

Insurance companies are in the business to make money (interest off your premeiums) so it doesn't make sense to insure "risky" people of any sort like the extreme sports people or the chronically ill, or people with family history of illness or mentally ill. But it is like a poster said, any of us could go in a car smash at any time. I'd be interested to see actual statistics as opposed to deduction. I'll bet, per capita, more "regular" policy holders die before the policy end than the "risky" policy holders. |
