david r | Sickness pay? |
Does anyone know? would i be entitled to full pay from my employer if i were to gain a sick note for four weeks.please help |

Normally, your employer would need to pay you Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). Because working it out can be a hassle, a fair number of employers choose to pay employees their normal pay instead, even if your contract says you only get SSP. Basically, SSP is the minimum they HAVE to pay you, but there is no problem with them paying more.
Assuming you're just due SSP, then nothing will be paid for the first 3 days of sickness, which are called waiting days (though if you have had some sickness absence recently, the periods may be treated as continuous). For the remainder of your four weeks off, you should get £72.55 per week (£29.02 in the first week, assuming you work a 5-day week).
Though most employees qualify for SSP, not all will. I have put a couple of links below, one to give you some further details on the qualifying conditions, and another which your employer may well use to see how much to pay you.
Hope this helps. |

Check your Contract of Employment they have no legal; obligation other than that, but they have to pay Statutory Sick pay. |

I think you would be if you had a doctors note. Most employers will give you up to 6 months full pay with a sick note i think and then another 6 months half pay (at least that is what my employer does). You should check your company policy on this however, as it could be different for you. |

if you are working in the UK you are entitled to STATUTORY SICK PAY SSP after 5 days on presentation of a sick note cert from your doctor.Your employer will top up the rest in accordance to what is agreed on your contract of employment.Employers do not have to pay any sick pay if there is no such agreement. |

you would be entitled to SSP but not necessarily your full pay although some employers will pay you in full |
