Slapped with medical bill?
I got in an accident while at work and was sent to the hospital for treatment. The company has insurance and they say the hospital bill will be paid for through workers comp since it happened otj. If I quit my job before all the paperwork and everything is completed, would I get slapped with the medical bill?
~~Your jobs workers compensation insurance is responsible for the injury because you were injured on the job. Regardless of whether you are currently employed with them now or not.
Just be sure you filled out an accident report, so you have a record proving their responsibility.~~

No work comp will cover it as long as you can prove you were on the job and you were currently employed there at the time.. I had a bad injury when I was a oil rig roustabout and I have changed jobs twice and work comp is still covering my doctors appointments.
And to the ladies above it is a government mandated insurance that ALL employers whether hazardous or not are required to provide

I would say stay the company until worker comp has a final from the Dr saying you can return to work

if you were injured they are responsible for your medical bills as well as any time missed due to the accident. More then likely you would not get the medical bill, you need to check the state laws as well as the laws in the deparment of labor but to me if you were injured at work and they cannot prove it occured b/c of something you did off the job then yes they should pay reguardless.

Maybe but probably not since it happened on the job. I wouldnt quit until you kno that is taken care of tho just in case

I would check with your hr but in most cases, you would be responsible for any charges they have not paid for. Most jobs have in the insurance literature about if you leave the job voluntarily or are released from it. I would wait until everything is signed and hopefully you are going to a better sustainable job as the job market is pathetic right now.

workman';s comp is paid for your employer and authorized by your employer who can chose to change their mind. it has happened before. they pay for these claims as insurance that you will remain gainfully employed with them and to take care of their loyal employees. you may want to wait until all is finalized. if the economy was in better shape today, it may be different. but truth is everyone is stretching that dollar and paying insurance claims means premiums for those businesses they pay increases with incidents filed.
