Rob M | State Farm Ticket Forgivness? |
So, one of my friends said that State Farm won't raise your insurance rate if you pay the ticket on time. Is this true? |

It depends on your state, and which State Farm company you are in. It also depends on the ticket, if you are youthful and have discounts that depend on you being ticket and accident free, and so many other factors. There is a good chance that if 1 ticket was all you have had, it will not affect your policy. Again, there are many factors that are looked at to determine this. The only person who can accurately give you a clue is your agent as they are the only one who has access to your policies. There is not a feature called "ticket forgiveness", though. |

State Farm has ACCIDENT forgiveness--not ticket forgiveness. You run the risk of having your rates increased or your policy cancelled if you break the law with moving traffic violations.

Only the state could answer that for sure, but they won't. It's a trade secret. |

You may not see the increase right away. It could take as much as 3 years to see it pop up, depending on how often they run your motor vehicle report. If they catch it 1 month before it is due to drop off, you will still be hit with the increase in premium due to a blemish on your driving record. And it may take MONTHS, or years to come off. Sometimes it is just cheaper to swich carriers for a year or two then go back to State Farm. You can still take advantage of the "brownie points" you earned from having longevity of a policy even if you have a different policy for a while. |
