Suspended from work on full pay?
I have been suspended from work, i work in a insurance company on the phones, i have been very depressed i the past and i have spoken to a line manager who has been very helpful, but the reason for me getting suspended was i have not concentrated on my work for a bit, i have been monitored and i was not even told of my actions, i have been taken very short calls and transfering them to the correct office, but then i have also been in after call work for a long time, when they asked me about this i said i have been depressed and talking to colleagues around me, they have suspended me and now i have a discplinary meeting, i really need some advice please help me

I agree with all the above, also does your employer have an occupational health nurse, most large employers have to have one. Ring HR and ask for an appointment. Tell her/him about your depression.
Don`t worry about it, working in a call centre is a s**t job and employers should be paying much higher wages for all the rude crap we have to put up with. It`s like a 21st century sweat shop, call after call with no time in-between and unrealistic targets.
Start looking for something less stressful, call centres rarely take on board the recommendations of the health and safety executive, serve them right for being understaffed, they should treat their staff better.

See your Doctor about your depression. Explain the situation at work & ask him for his recomendation (this shows you are taking action to addres your problem).

Take your Union Rep. with you to the discplinary meeting = this keeps them 'honest' = and ask them (i.e. the Company) for help help and support in solving your temporary depression problem.

I expect you feel it's not worth bothering, but you must make the effort to face up to your problems - otherwise they will give you 'official warnings' that may end up in you being fired.

Don't panic. You haven't committed gross mis-conduct so they can't sack you. If you haven't had any sort of official 'speaking to' or prior warnings they cant do much accept give you a verbal warning if its deemed you done anything wrong. I would suggest you join a union asap.
Take someone with you to the disciplinary, which is a right you have when going through a disciplinary.
You need to read your companies policies and procedures to see exactly what you are up against and what the companies disciplinary procedure is. Keep an eye on them in case they forget to follow the correct procedure, you have them if they don't.

take sum1 to the meetin with you and tell them that you r stressed n depressed..this is an illness and your work should have a policy and proceedure on stress etc in a work place!
your suspended so that they can discuss with your collegues the facts of you not performin ur work duties. worryin wont help but they shall probly just giv u help or a warning..its not the end of the world..i've been down the supended from work rd n its not worth stressin over. wot ever happens, happens but take sum1 with you and say everythin u wanna say, make notes even

Sorry about this i think you need to go to your doctor and ask to be put off sick so you one have time to get a bit better, you may need some medication and three to get your head together and clearer.
They did have the right to suspend you if not doing your job properly however you have good reason and a sick note from your doctor may help your case.
They may have occupational health people if company is big enough so ask to see them as well.
It is clear you need some help and you need to go to doctor tommorow the added stress of suspension will make it worst.

go to a solicitor. How long have you been there? If you're still on probation there's not much you can do.
But if you've been there a while then they have to go through proper channels like first written warning etc before they can suspend you.
Seems strange. Are you in a trade union?
I also work for an insurance company. I would find yourself a no win, no fee unfair dismissal solicitor, or go to Citizen's Advice Bureau.

If you belong to the Insurance workers' union they will give you advice and support, they will send someone to go to the disciplinary meeting with you.

Get to the doctors and get a sick note. Talk to the doctor about your depression and get it sorted. Work is only Work! Work to live not live to work.

See a GP if he is of the opinion that you are sick he may prescribe rest and give you a note to take to work.

Your employer is correct infact being and acting in your best interest, it is their responsibility to offer information where you can get help and I think you should forget bout whats happened fix yourself up and go to the hearing with a fresh mind..............

well if you're depressed you should consider getting yourself another job. at the end of the day you gotta see it from their point of view, they pay you to take calls not sit in after call/wrap up and talk to people, i know it sounds harsh but its true, i had depression i used to work in a call centre but youve just gotta get outta there and do yourself and your employer a favour. you deserve better. please go talk to your GP who will be able to help
