As in, he would have to pay 40.00 max on prescriptions but the wife's is different and some meds are over the 40.00. |

Yes, the spouse CAN have a different type of health coverage than the employee, on the group health plan. |

I've never heard of the policies being different when a spouse is added. Her meds may be a different class and therefore may have a different and higher copay. If he took the same meds as she he would pay more as well. Most companies have three or four tier levels for medications. |

Not usually. I have heard of medicare supplements working that way ( where the spouses are different ages and the older spouse has more coverage than the younger spouse because the older spouse had some benefits "grandfathered" in), but not business or personal health insurance for working-age people. |
