You'll need a comprehensive general liability policy. Make sure food service and preparation is covered. You might need a rider.
You need worker's compensation if you have employees.
And you'll need coverage for fire, theft and other destruction of the restaurant equipment (and building if you own it) and, if you can afford it, theft of the day's proceeds. |

You'll need Property coverage for any property you own (building, contents, inventory, etc...) and you should see if they can include spoilage coverage with that and some crime coverage (receipts, employee theft, etc...). You'll have to get a General Liability policy, which covers you for property damage and bodily injury. If you are serving liquor you'll need to get Liquor Liability as well. If you have any workers you'll need Workers Compensation. And the other thing you should consider is getting an Umbrella policy which basically is excess coverage over the GL and Employer's Liability and if you have a nice umbrella policy it will go over a liquor policy if needed. |
