~~Your insurance will cover the negotiated contractual rate she has agreed to for the charges. However, you may still have a copay or a deductible which would be you responsibility, but it all works on the contracted rate. Each plan is different on what that would be. I strongly urge you to call the customer service number on the back of your card. You need to ask exactly what your out of pocket costs will be. You also need to find out if you can self refer to a mental health specialist or if you need prior authorization first. If you get the info directly from your insurance company on what to do, you won't have any expensive surprises!~~ |

You could still owe a co-payment, or it could go towards a deductible. Call the 800# on your insurance card and ask the company, or ask your agent, or better yet get your therapist's office to call and find out how much (if any) will be your responsibility. |

Your insurance will probably pay some of it. Your therapist will bill the insurance company, who will decide how much they will pay. The therapist will then bill you for the remainder of the payment if any. |

What it means is that the therapist has a negotiated rate that is less than what she would normally charge for the service. Your deductibles and co-insurance amounts are based on this lower rate, so your out of pocket would be less. If your insurance has only a co-pay amount for an office visit, that is what you would owe, since the therapist is a "preferred" provider. Without knowing your actual benefits, I can't give you a more exact answer. |

Yes, that usually means that your insurance will pay for most if not all of it. What Emma F said is completely correct. |

Many insurance companies treat the coverage for mental health issues separately. Just because he/she takes your plan doesn't mean you can self refer yourself to them. Call the insurance company and ask how it works.
