Thinking of selling for Pre-Paid Legal Inc.......?
Question is, how much would the average, law abiding citizen actually need this service? I think if I had more friends in need, I'd sell it. But I don't. They are all pretty much good people- tax paying - job holding - grownups who aren't really going to get into a legal scrape. I know there's an offchance that they may have to draw up a will, or have some inheritance sorted out, but wouldn't that one time be cheaper than paying for a plan they wouldn't use?
As you can probably tell, I'm not comfortable with selling someone something they don't need. I guess I'm what can be considered sas an "honest salesperson" (an oxymoron I know!). I really need hhelp with this decision, so any answers positive are negative are welcomed. Thanks so much!

I believe that PPL is legal advice, not real representation. Therefore Worm22, I'm saying that IF something unexpected happens, what's the probability that the one-time fees of such a situation would be greater than those you would have paid for years of the legal service?

And answer #2 seems to get what I'm saying - would the quality of legal guidance be the same?

Don't do it. I sold for 1 yr. It is a pyramid scheme. Yes they are publicly traded, yes they have been around for some time, but the weekly sales calls and tuesday night meetings get expensive. You have to pay for each form you use, each meeting you attend, and everything, not so great if you're not selling any units.

From personal experience it wasn't worth it. I hope you do what's best for you.

like any new business venture, success is mainly determined by your own personal effort. i do not know what the specific numbers are for pre paid law success stories, but i'm sure there are a few. it would be my guess maybe 1 out of every 100 or 150 people that get into pre paid law or any other business with that sort of structure ever succeed. it can't be any better than this. you would have to decide if you would actually do what it takes to be one of the very very few that succeed. i am a successful business person at what i do now but failed at pre paid law and several other businesses with the same sort of direct distribution type of model. good luck

My ex-wife both bought and sold this stuff. I'm grateful. My attorney is killing her in our custody battle. She didn't even know she was essentially unrepresented until I had a Status Quo judgment.

I'm not saying this is a scam, but I'm saying that you're asking the right kinds of questions.

Let me ask you this, you do have medical insurance don't you? Do you go to the doctor regularly? Maybe one time a year, then if an emergency pops up? But you still pay high medical insurance rates, don't you? What about car insurance? You pay that, but how many accidents have you been in.
Have you ever got a speeding ticket and had to go to court? Have you ever had to return something to the store and they would not take it back. What about a car accident? Have you ever been in one or know someone who has and the other person did not have insurance or sued you? Do you have a will done, so that your family is taken care of when it is your time? If you do, do you get it updated frequently because we all know things change? Prepaid legal is much more than you think. I am an associate, so I am bias, but I will tell you this: when I was first introduced, I was just like you. I have realized though, that everyone does need it. Go look in the yahoo answers law and ethics section. All these people could use legal advice, but do not want to call a lawyer because of the cost. Prepaid legal has some of the top lawyers in each state, and answering your questions is one of the many services they do. I am a law abiding citizen, who is honest. That is why it is easy for people to take advantage of me. I believe one day, everyone will have to have it, just like medical and car insurance. Plus, we also offer identity theft sheild, which by the way, idenity theft is the largest crime in America right now.
I do not try to sell it to family and friends. I did at first, but my mother just laughed at me and told me how dumb it was. She then mocked me to the family. Guess what? She called me 4 months later and needed a membership. If you have the chance to join prepaid legal, now would be that time. Just think if you would have gotten into medical insurance right before it took off, how would you be feeling now? How would you feel, if that opportunity was brought to you, and you decided not to take it? Anyway, if you do decide to join and need any advice, I would be happy to help! That is one of the reasons I am in it! Good luck!

"tax paying - job holding - grownups"

grownups tend to end up having children, children tend to make stupid mistakes (some of which can get them in some nasty legal trouble). It's like any other insurance. You're paying a monthly fee so that you don't get hit with some, potentially, nasty fees that you can't afford when something unexpected happens.

Everyone will have a number of legal situations each year. Without the services of a lawyer, you're totally at the mercy of the other party and the court system. Trouble is, at $400/hour, how can the average citizen ever hope to afford the help of a lawyer? Without Pre-Paid Legal, most of us would be in serious trouble! I highly recommend it (Pre-Paid Legal! Go for it!!!!!!!!!!
