I cannot get Cobra coverage that fast. They can't even send me an insurance pack by the weekend.
Is this legal? I am worried that I could get hit by a car on Sunday & I would be screwed!

I am an insurance agent myself, and unfortunately this is true. I can send you my link for health insurance, if you are interested. It's relatively inexpensive & I go through United Health Care. It gives you pricing on the spot & is available immediately. COBRA can be EXTREMELY expensive to transfer your insurance & it takes quite a bit of time to obtain. If you are in need of a job, the insurance industry is booming right now. (depending on which one that you go through) We are busy replacing benefits that have been lost & securing assets that haven't been lost. I hope that I was of help to you! Thanks! |

If you chose to get cobra, it will be retroactive to the day you lost your insurance. If you get hit by a car on saturday and fill out the cobra paperwork whenever you get it, they'll still have to cover you for the accident. |

So sorry to hear about your job and insurance loss. And yes it is legal. I have always felt that Americans should all have insurance covered by the government. Maybe then, the companies could stay in business and not have to downsize as they are now. |

Under COBRA, the employer is required to keep the insurance in force, even if all the paperwork isn't done by the "normal" termination date. |

If you're entitled to COBRA it'll be retroactive. It's the same plan you already have -- you just need to pay for it.
Just use your same card and as long as you pay for the coverage any claims you have won't be denied...or reversed if you later don't pay. |

Yes its legal. I know people in my area who were told that they shouldn't come in the next day to work. So 4 days notice is nice compared to what the people i know got! If you don't have any pre-existing conditions you may want to look into an individual health policy. They are usually considerably cheaper then COBRA. However, if you do have pre-existing health conditions it is best to get COBRA as they would most likely be excluded from coverage under an individual policy. |

sorry to hear this. This country is going to be difficult to handle in the next ten years. But if you were struck by a vehicle, your auto insurance would be primary, health would be secondary. But anyway, all the answers on here will provide you with issues w/ cobra

Yes, they do not have to give you advance notice.
But you have 30 days to take cobra, from the time you get your notice - so you CAN get cobra, and it will cover you retroactively, to the day you lost the group coverage. |
