If you have a good record and have been driving for some time, you should be able to get a decent rate.
Have you tried the using a broker or two to do the checking for you? You can just give them your details and they will check around for the best price.
If you are nervous about doing it online, you can always do a check on the company after you get an idea of the cheapest rate available. You can check their stability at Standard & Poor's or as someone else mentioned A.M. Best.
It is certainly worth looking into. |

Try a major insurance company such as State Farm, Prudential etc. (I don't advise Geico) Rates are effected not only by your driving record but how new the car is, the value, your deductibles, if it is a 4 cylinder vs a v8, how many miles you travel to work etc etc. When you purchase from a local privately owned insurance company, you are paying a middle man so to speak. We have State Farm and pay about $600 a year for full coverage on a Honda SUV. |

i looked at a lot on the web when i bought a new car. i went with Progressive because they gave the cheapest rate. If you buy it online they even give you a discount. Good luck! |

check nationwide, allstate and liberty mutual and state farm
if you have a cheap quote from another unknown company
ask them their best's rating anything b + or better is pretty safe. a or a+ is great.. stay away from b or below |
