just heard from ins company .going to get settlement for our tv that got damaged!! we had the old widescreen jvc tube tv! He told us it is not worth having th tube tv so it will prob be an lcd! our other tv was a jvc. He is making enquiries to see what sort of price they are etc! what my hubby is worried of is that he may replace it with a cheaper make etc can he do this?? thanks

The whole idea of insurance is to put you back in the same position you were before your loss. Therefore, if a tv of similar spec and quality as your old one is available, then that is what you will get. If however, your type of TV is no longer on the market, your insurers will give you whatever the current equivalent spec is. Of course, there is always the possibility that when you bought your original TV it cost more than they do now, so the replcement will be cheaper to buy - but the bottom line is, in terms of the tv you had before, you will not be given anything of inferior spec or quality. You should be in no worse a position than you were before your loss. |

Depends - do you have full replacement coverage or just insurance in which case they give a like TV. Most likely thew will give you a check and you can buy whatever you like. |

Yes, a TV bought when colour 1st came out cost £1000 +, if it was replaced 5 years later it would cost approx 1/2 of that, so they replace the item, not the initial cost outlay |

i wouldn't worry too much. you should be able to replace it with any brand you like as long as its value does not exceed that of the old set. and with the price of tv's plummeting right now you might score well on the deal.
jvc is ok but ther are others that easily compete.quality wise so keep an open mind |
