If i worked for 2 companies, basically same hours for each position. Company 1 went bankrupt, so I lost my job, Company 2, I still work for.....but my income went down tremendously!!! Almost 50%. Can I collect unemployment benefits(from company 1) even though I still have a job?? The lifestyle I lived was based off the income from both these jobs, and now I am afraid the bills are not going to get paid!! Do you have to be physically out of a job to collect?? |

Yes you will not likely be able to collect anything since you still have a job, but trying doesn't hurt I guess. |

You have to be currently unemployed to collect benefits. Your "lifestyle" is not a factor. |

Depending on your state's practices, you may be eligible for a partial unemployment payment based upon the job you lost. Much will depend on the hours worked and whether you worked enough hours there to be covered. Contact your state's unemployment compensation division for further guidance. |

You cannot collect employment if you're working a job. If you're working part time at one you might be able to collect partial unemployment. Not sure though. Just call your local Dept of Employment and ask someone. |

you should be able to collect partial benefits--depending on how much you make at job #2--each state has a set maximum amount that you are allowed to draw weekly. and that amount is based on how much you paid in to unemployment over a year ago. go to the local unemployment office and give it a shot. and pare down your lifestyle |
