I haven't received a check in a month I've emailed and called, nothing. I need my check. The automated lady tells me the check was sent off on 11-19-08. How do I get through so I can get my check to pay rent and buy food?
Additional Details
I emailed them and they called me back that very day! It's easier to email then to call or visit the office. The check was lost in the mail,and I should get one soon. I also got a very promising job interview in my field. Thanks for all the advice ! |

You likely aren't going to get through, unless you call a half hour before they open, and just sit there and let the phone ring.
If the check was issued Nov 19th, it should be showing up at your door any day now.
If you need to have the check reissued, it's going to take another month.
Remember this, when some politician is trying to sell you on government health care. |

You should go in person to the nearest office. You can find the locations on line at your state DoL website. The sooner you go, the sooner they can clear this up for you. |

All you can do is contact your local unemployment office. If they are local, drop by their offices. I am sure they are very busy.
They now have where you can go online to file for benefits. They should have a lot of numbers for your state to contact them.
If worse comes to worse, contact you local state representative for your area. They can expedite things usually.

Go in person. Forget the phone, the automated lady is like a scratched CD-she keeps repeating herself. You need to talk to a real person to get some real answers. |

If you can't get a hold of them on the phone, maybe you should just go down to the office and visit them in person.
After that, go to social services and apply for food stamps so you can eat. |
