You'll have to wait until open enrollment. (Dependents can only be added to an employer policy once a year at open enrollment, unless there is a qualifying event. Pregnancy is not considered a qualifying event. You'll have to check with your husband's HR department to determine if any of your circumstances could be considered a qualifying event, such as getting married within the last 30 days.)
If your husband's employer offers family coverage with maternity benefits, then you shouldn't have a problem getting your pregnancy covered once added at open enrollment. Employer group policies cannot consider pregnancy a pre-existing condition.
(Technically, there is an extremely rare exception to that...certain government employers have policies that are HIPAA exempt and therefore can legally consider pregnancy pre-existing. But that's an extremely, extremely, *extremely* rare circumstance, and only affects people who work for certain government entities. If your husband doesn't work for a very specific type of government entity, then you don't have anything to worry about.) :) |

Unless you got married within the last 30 days, you will probably have to wait until Open Enrollment. Your husband should be able to ask at his HR dept.
Pregnancy can not be considered pre-existing with a group policy, so once you have been added, you will be golden.
Make sure you know what the time and documentation requirements are for adding the newborn so there won't be any problems with coverage. It's usually within 30 days of birth. |

He’ll have to ask his HR department if they can add you on immediately. If they won’t accept you now, you may have to pay for office visits out of pocket, but open enrollment for most companies starts soon, and that will get you covered before delivery – assuming they don’t have a problem with your preexisting condition.
Worst case, they should accept the baby when (s)he’s born, and you can get added on next year after you no longer have a condition.
