today i saw a now hiring sign for united america insurance...
So i call this lady and she sets me up for an interview at 10am.
i was expecting the normal one on one interview with a manager but when i got there we were rushed into a room and this guy, i cant remeber his name. He sounded loud and agressive and his first words were....." i just took a 12 hour drive from Atlanta because of traffic.. and i dont have time to waste. do you guys know who you are talking to.. because i am a multi million dollar earner..
Then he started insulting my friend becuase she was looking down and he said she needs to look him in the eye when he is talking because its rude.. He did power point presentation and said we have to pay for licenses. I immediately asked him. "Sir if this is a multi billion company, why do we have to pay.." he started yelling and told me to get out, he was like " do you know who i am." and i was like sir i was just asking a question. I decided to get up and leave.

I felt really hurt today because he started yelling at me and saying i earn mutli millions.blah blah. I was like. sir i didnt mean to offend you but you do not have to be rude to me. He then threatened to kick me out. I wish i could remeber his name.. The company is called United America insurance co. and i went for the interview today..
Did i do wrong by asking him that question, or i shouldnt have asked him because he is a billionaire.. ????

It is a legitimate company with, in my opinion, mediocre policies. There are several other insurance companies that work this way as well. They get you into room and tell you how much money you can make. They do not mention any details of the policy nor do they say anything about how they can help the client, they just keep repeating how much money you'll make. This gets many people very excited and pumped up, similar to a locker room at halftime. Most agents won't touch these companies.
What they don't tell you is 95% or more of the agents wash out within the first year, oweing more than they made, and half of the remaining 5% quit by the end of the second year. The agents sold policies to all their family and friends which made the company (and the coach) money. |

Good for you. It does not sound like a reputable company. That is why he kept emphasizing "he" was a multi million dollar earner. He will lie, cheat and steal to get a buck. Keep going there are still many decent places out there. |

I've never heard of "United Ameria". I've Even tried to find a website to no avail.
But I have heard of "United American Ins. Co." It is a Torchmark Corp.
I have represented UA for several years as a General Agent, and I don't think that anyone in this company would talk like that to anyone.
Most of the time, you will pay for licensing fees with insurrance companies. Some will pay the fees for you.
I would take a look at other companies if I were you.
In order to be successful in the insurance business, one must have a positive mental attitiude, and enthusiasm about what you are doing. These two attributes work hand in hand. If you lose one, you'll lose the other.
I don't care how much money the guy has made, you can't treat sales people like basic military trainees. He is there to HELP you, not cut you down. Shame on him.
You must show respect for your subordinates, and they will show respect for you.
I will say this though, if you want to earn a real nice living in the insurance business:
If you want to run with the BIG DOGS, you have to get off the porch.

It's a straight sales job. Commission only. And he sounds like a jerk that I wouldn't want to work with. If he really was making that kind of money, he wouldn't have to do all that recruiting and traveling. |
