It's a mess in Canada, a mess in England, a mess where ever it has been done. Good doctors leave to work where they will be paid what they are worth. The bad ones stay. Long lines (think "free clinic").
I give a big fat both thumbs down NAY. |

No way. Everything the government is in charge of is crappy b/c it's just too big of a job for one entity. If you need insurance, get a job that gives it to you. My in laws are from Canada and the care is crappy and you have to wait months to receive it. No Thanx, worst idea I've ever heard of. |

<<nay>> it's just another word for socialized health care. if someone wants socialized medicine i invite them to make a visit to their nearest free clinic. that is what you get under socialized medicine. maybe it might be good at first, but eventually it will deteriorate just like every other program the government runs. it will become a complete failure. |

Yes,yes,yes, and here's why.
For people responding no--Do any of you have parents over 72? Because if you do, here's the deal. An insurance company is going to say, well this person's average life span might be 10 years so why treat them aggresively for heart problems if they're going to die in a few years anyway. Why do that aneurysm surgery when they'll die in a few years and the cost of care will be over one million dollars over time.
For people who think we have a great system now-wait until you have to deal with insurance companies who love to receive your premium payments, but hate to pay claims. Who reward their claims agents for denying claims.
For people saying no-wait until you have a loved one who needs some kind of treatment that is refused because it is too expensive.
Listen folks--you who think we have such a great system--the reality is that medical decisions are now being made by INSURANCE COMPANIES. Look at the beautiful Humana building in Louisville-a company that has a hard time paying claims but can build a shrine like building for their executives.
Oh you naive people, just wait
wait untl your aging parents need treatment, wait until someone in your family needs long term care and you have to work your way thru the system, and baby boomers, just wait until you get a little older and need your insurance.
Ignorance is bliss. |

Sounds good. We actually pay more in the end for not covering everyone. Any civilized society should make affordable healthcare available to all of its people. |
