No one is going to give you a private policy to cover these meds. If your group coverage doesn't cover it, your best shot is to switch to the old ritilin, which comes in generic form, and see if you can get it for $4 a month through Sam's Club or Target. |

Most plans don't cover the top of the line stuff (like Concerta or Strattera or any other newer ones) as a general rule, because if you can get relief with the generic (i.e. cheaper) ones, why shouldn't you?
What you need to do is play their game a bit. Find out what medications they do cover (probably generic Ritalin) and try them - or if you have tried them, have your child's doctor provide a letter documenting treatment failure on that medication, and ask for preapproval for the medication your child uses. Most of the time, if you raise a big enough stink about it, they relent.
As far as any ideas about insurance companies who would cover the medications. Insurances are notorious for changing their formularies (list of covered prescription meds) the way most people change their socks. Some of them change quarterly, some it feels like monthly.
The other thing to do - contact the maker of the medication and ask for coupons or rebates. (They usually can't give samples of the stuff by law.) They also might be able to get you a list of what formularies the medication is currently on. (Ask your child's doctor to contact the sales rep for it if you need help.)

Most medications have a alternate...or generic. I would ask my insurance company about an alternative and/or ask the pharmacy. |

usa resident. if you are walmart has a $4.00 plan. Try calling your doctor they have medication plans. The doctor fills out forms and mail them in and you should get the medication free or for $5.00. GlaxcoSmith.com may can help you also I would give them a called about medication assistance. |
