This is a tough one...

There are a LOT of companies out there selling life insurance. Talk with a LOT of people--friends, insurance brokers, etc.--and read a LOT (Google for information regarding life insurance and what tl watch out for), and educate yourself. Many policies are VERY restrictive and others tout that they are helping you by investing your money.

Generally, you should avoid "Whole Life" or "Universal Life" policies. They are WAY over-priced and you can get a better return on your alleged "investment" than what they offer.

Look in to TERM Life insurance. It's cheaper, and you take the extra money that you'd have spent on Whole or Universal life insurance and invest it in a ROTH IRA. And, make sure that you only get enough life insurance to pay off the house and bills, with a little extra. Do you REALLY need that $3 Million policy? Typically, the answer is NO.

Maybe you can try below website to get the information you need. It's about choosing the best life insurance for you articles for your second opinion.

Farmers New World Life or Western-Southern Life. I would recommend for you to visit with a Financial Adviser when it comes to Life Insurance everyone needs are completely different. Many say buy term invest the rest from 6 years of experience in this field i see that only works for a very very limited percent of our society. You actually have to INVEST the rest which most people do not do. It has to do with your life style and what you want your life insurance policy to do for you. It also depends on the age, sex, occupation, status of the person who is buying it. I work for nothing but Life Insurance Companies for a while and now I work for Farmers in contrary to what someone said in here the prices are very competitive a lot of the times cheaper than other companies, plus you get discounts on your auto and homeowners insurance. Again it depends on what type of insurance you are looking for. Look at the rating of the company you are looking to do business with (ask the agent what their rating is they should know) The rating indicates how financially stable the company is and how easy/soon they pay their claims.

to be blunt, someone above said it best, term insurance is the way to go. the reason is (simply put ), that it is basically renting a "bag" of money if in the event that something unfortunate happens. the purpose of term is so that it is there for your family temporarily until you have saved up sufficent amount of money that you no longer need the insurance.

Imagine you have a short life, then the insurance kicks in and protects your family. but if you have a long life and the money has been saved up, you no longer need insurance or keep paying for it because you need retirement income!!! that is where investments come into play (bank savings accounts and 401k's are not good enough.)

You asked for a company reccomendation, i will give you one that i have had my insurance with for years now, Primerica Financial Services.

Here is where alot of people who dont understand the company will say dumb opinions, but as a client i fully support their programs because they can deliver what no other company can, low cost high quality coverage and sound investing programs and debt elimination.

i know from them helping me.

It isnt the least expensive out there, but neither is a mercedez and as far as safety and quality, mercedez will always outperform a honda. but the honda is cheaper, not better.

And term is the only sensible one out there, agents and brokers will say what it takes to get paid, but even amongst the top 10, it isnt accurate, because i know that Primerica is more affordable than prudential, you can check on forbes magazine and see proof. If someone is saying that it all depends on the persons objective, that is bullshit. everyone's objective is to retire sooner, get out of debt, and protect their income. And a cash value or whole life policy cannot compete in that area, they are just different options that other companies sell. Smoke and mirrors to mask the fact that they are inadequate. I am self educated in this, plus if you had any doubts Suzie Orman, a widely known but not linked with any company financial guru, (if you will) says the exact same thing.
buy term and invest the difference, just stick to the investing part and your results will be far better than that of any other kind of insurance.

If you're looking for inexpensive term coverage, I liked American General or Banner Life.

If your looking for a more complicated life insurance arraignment, consult with a local independent agency or estate attorney, they work in the business and can usually steer you to someone experience and credentialed. Any experienced life agent will have a CFP, LUTCF or CLU designation meaning they've got experience in the industry and have taken coursework in selling appropriate insurance.

I would avoid any large P&C companies that ALSO sell life insurance (Allstate, State Farm, Farmers..) their policies tend to be overpriced since they also have to support an agency structure. I would also avoid any company that deals in MLM for the same reason; expensive policies that pay commission to the producer and dozens of "mainlines" that are upstream from the producers.

Hope this helps
