What are some sample average monthly health insurance payments for a 25-year-old male?
If that's not enough information, make any assumptions necessary.

Assumptions:
1) You are healthy
2) Your zip code is 80233 (Denver)
3) NO tobacco use

A lowest priced policy available has a $7,500 deductible, $1,000 separate deductible for prescriptions, and no doctor copays. Monthly premium is $36.23.

An HSA type policy with a $5,000 deductible costs $54.74 per month.

A "good" policy with a $500 deductible, $1,000 in co-insurance, and co-pays for doctor visits & prescriptions costs $197 per month.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

I just did a quote for a healthy male, 25, non-smoker. The rates ranged from $29 to $242 per month. The premium could increase or you could even be declined based on height & weight, pre-existing conditions, smoking status, and even zip code.

If you live in a "community rated state" premiums could be anywhere from $200 and up depending on the plan you choose. If you are in a State Mandated state...premiums could start at $450 for an HMO plan. Alot of variables to consider.

You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. That adviser can answer your questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, show you the hospitals and doctors that are in the network and give you the exact premium.

But ultimately you are the one who determines the affordability of your health insurance plan by deciding how much you will participate in sharing the cost of your health care with your insurance company.

If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles and low copays your monthly premiums will be significant.

On the other hand if you are young and healthy and rarely use the health care system you could consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe which will result in a relatively low monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit and still come out ahead.

Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health situation.

Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably already know that there is much more to health insurance than price. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage.
