I'm planning to have a insuracne policy but seeing various pvt / gvt companies & diff kind of policies available, I'm just confused. I agree all these policis are basis on our requirement but still need some guidence to understand them in a better way. If some one can summarise the insurance market policies (catagorisation) will be great. If there is some brief documentation available, pls do send the link.
Note : I'm looking for a best insurance policy for me , my child & a good pension plan irrespective of pvt / gvt company. |

Only term insurance is a product , which can benifit you. All other product benifit the agent & insurance company.
For investment, one should look for other financial products like Mutual funds, FD, etc |

At least your money is safe with LIC. In private companies you never know their tricks and hidden things. The executive or your agent friend would have changed the company job by the time you ring up for help. My firend who insured Max New York never showed up. I had bad experience with IFCO TOKIO when I claimed my vehicle damage.
Go for LIC. Forget the executies. As smart as dangerous. |

Life insurance is basically of two types :
1. Term insurance : which offer pure life insurance i.e. paid only in case of death
2. Endowment Insurance : Offering money only on survival i.e. on completing policy ter.
All plans are combination of term plus endowment.
ULIP is a new type offering investment alongwith risk cover. They are market oriented hence little risky.
Insurance is to be sold only after understanding the risk profile of the person i.e. his age, occupation, responsibilities etc. Some scientific formulaes like "human life value" "capital adequacy" are to be using in arriving at your ideal insurance cover.

Insurance policies can be classified broadly into three categories.
1. Term Plan, - Risk Cover Only.
2. Endowment. - Savings, Moneyback, bonus etc. Insurance co. takes
amount risk.
3. ULIP - Unit Linked. Risk of amount is the Investors.
Being the oldest and trusted organisation, LIC of India does have the advantage of being in Profit and also a fast settler of claims and maturity.
