The “best” way to find out which company is “best” for you is to talk to an independent insurance broker. A broker works with several companies and can point you to the best one. To find a broker in your area, log on to a website like http://www.lifeinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote. Your information will be sent to a broker in your area who will contact you. |

Using an "independant" agent limits you to the companies that they represent. Try the state department of insurance to check if there any complaints on the companies you are interested in. Check the A.M. Best rating of the company as well as the Moody's rating. They will tell you who the best overall companies are. Then, find agents or brokers for the best 2 or 3. Talk to them and see how they fit you needs and if they ask you more than tell you. |

Primerica Life. Rated A+ or higher on AM Best. Has no War Clause, usually pays within 4-14 days. Agents can also provide other services to help reduce costs. Offers term insurance and ONLY term insurance. No cash surrender value policy being offered and will not convert to one.
Is also Guaranteed renewable. You get cancer while policy is in force, keep paying the premiums. Upon renewal, price goes up based on obtained age ONLY, not health status. Rate is kept as well. Most companies will make you switch to a policy with MUCH HIGHER PREMIUMS if you become uninsurable.
Your best choice though will be one that offers a child rider that will cover all 5 at the same price, no war clause (death by terrorist attack would activate this), guaranteed renewable, banded coverage (gets a lower rate over all).
Convienitly, a Primerica policy does offer all of this.
It is also important to be able to trust the agent you talk with. Don't underestimate your value either. Just because you don't bring home any income, if you die, your hubby will have to find either someone to stay and take care of the kids or put them in day care. To replace you monetarily would probably cost him about 40-60k per year. |

The best companies are Northwestern Life, New York Life and Mass Mutual. All 3 have the best ratings and all 3 are mutual companies.
All 3 have higher premiums then your on line quotes. Of which most of those on line quotes turn into leads that the on-line page then sells to Agents at anywhere from $10 to $50 per name. Most Agents buying leads are newer Agents looking to get a foot hold in the industry. The drop out rate for an Agent is over 75% in the first 2 years.
When you do sit down with an Agent make sure you ask how long they have been in the business and if they have done any additional continued education courses like a CLU or ChFC.
The cheapest term is Banner, West Coast, Lincoln, Equitable and Prudential. They all will pay if your husband died but the duration of when they pay you will vary by carrier. Also a no contest clause sometimes will be disputed by the smaller and not so highly rated carriers. This is usually 2 years after policy date and then they have to pay regardless of the scenerio.
Go with the New York Life. It will cost more but you will be happy with a superior product.
Good luck. |
