Insurance is now wanted by all professional for tax benefit.
So the agent needs,
1. Good communication skill
2. In depth knowledge on each policy ie he must be able to clear all the doubts of the customer
3. Must not use the word take or join in this policy.
4. Compelling must be removed while taking
5. Must be able to differentiate all the policies
6. Agent must be in the position of customer before knowing about a new policy
7. Must maintain a complete datasheets and records of various policies.

Excellent communication skills, for when the customer just can't accept insurance is not to cover your poorly maintained property or that they are not getting a top of the range TV with HD etc for the tv that was 15 years old and their 2 year old son knocked off the stand!
Listening skills for when the customer's lie gets too complex for them and they keep make error after error. For example my freezer has been turned off, while I was on holiday. Of course I stocked up my 5 draw fridge and there is £500 worth of food! That happen to be half a cow, small pig with many lobster in there!
Endless Patience for when you are threaten with legal action, horror the Watchdog program and I will move all my business with you - listen its not covered and that's that!
Good sense of hum our - for the clearly it could not happen claims such as I left the tin of paint on the stairs, got a call so I had to leave house to pick up my child. When I got back the dog had knocked the seal tin of paint down the stairs. Then walked around the house on every carpet and some how split paint on 2 computers, tv, dvd player various dvd's & cd's!
Having a good knowledge of your policy does help but the customer always knows best - it does not occur to them that maybe they don't!
