I'm disappointed that these companies were allowed to go unchecked for so long. If this was not called out, what else is going on that we won't know until it's too late? I'll bet someone was trying to blow the whistle on it and couldn't get the attention needed. Maybe we should go back to having news about important stuff instead of celebrities and their babies. That would be partially our fault. |

I think it was 80 billion, not 80 million.
Anyway, whats a "toxic asset" ? And why would someone invest in something toxic lololololololo. Red flag right there I think. |

Its all funny money anyway with such an astronomical figure. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The ones in the middle get into debt. I smell democracy- the scent of knowing your place |

I believe the figure was in billions. I agree with Jon Stewart, "anything to stop universal health care" (joke) |

Not happy... but it probably was the only option!! The unemployment rate is nowhere near what it was during the Great Depression... It is a bipartisan problem, both sides have unclean hands. Instead of talking about corrupt Wall Street, because we already know they are GREEDY, what about the corrupt politicians!! OBAMAGATE!! And, many many others on both sides. |

It wasn't the insurance companies that were the problem. It was banks and morgage companies that gave bad home loans.

Washington is creating a fund using your tax payer money to bail out all these companies that created these financing mechanisms.
So basically they made trillions selling these worthless pieces of paper to everyone in America and now they are going to get bailed out and lose nothing at YOUR expense. |

You will find out when it gets to congress. The president can't spend any money, only congress can. The democrats are in power, and have the sole responsibility in approving or turning it down. This was long coming, it is not the fault of any one individual, administration, or corporation. Congress kept changing laws, making it possible for anyone who didn't have a home to buy one. (Made everyone feel good). Banks lent money knowing the people were at high risk for non payment. It is ashame that we are asked to pay for all these mistakes. |
