Well, you should file a lawsuit against the person. You also have a Mechanics Lien against the car- traded in or not. You should file that lien. Which would mean that the person illegally traded in the car- and the Dealer could possibly start a lawsuit against them as well. You definitely have a number of actions you can take here to gt your money- good luck! |

The check is their contract of payment, which they broke.
Keep the check until its resolved. |

Contact your police department. Passing phony checks could be prosecuted and depending on the amount of the check; jail time could be a mandatory sentence. If they wrote you the check and stopped payment on the same day they committed fraud- pure and simple. |

Yes, well, you have to go to the local district attorney and ask them to prosecute for fraud - which is what they did. Or sue them in small claims court. |

Start with calling the police and making a report. It is theft of services at a minimum. Then, when they get arrested, maybe they will come up with the cash owed to you. Good luck. |

Turn the check into your Local Collections Agency or you can get a Small Claims suit against them which will cost a little bit, but if you win they will pay all your court costs and you make some money of it!! |

never accept checks again one, and if you have proof that you actually did perform the work signed by them, then you can call the bank and dispute the check.. if u dont have any sort of proof u really cant do much about it |
