It depends on what your requirements are. I found that throwing money at them won't get you a better service so just search around and try to get as much service for the lowest price!
It means you might have to do some work searching around but once you found something with a good price you get to breathe a little!
All the best. |

Depends on your "census", (age, location, etc.) I have an individual policy through Aetna. Most individual policies only provide you with two co-payments, such as for a doctor's visit. Then you would have to pay 100% until your deductible is met and then your stuck with paying whatever percentage your policy requires. However, with the Aetna policy I obtained for my (now) 17 year old step-daughter we pay $62.00 a month with a $5,000 deductible, and you actually have an unlimited amount of co-pays. The co-pays are a bit higher than with a group policy, but it's better than paying the full price of the visit; most especially if you need lab work.
If you are sickly or accident prone, your pretty much SOL... Might I suggest moving to Canada?
United Healthcare/Aetna/Blue Cross Blue Shield are REALLY good providers but are often pricey. Just do some research. Choose a carrier with a Best Rating of B+ or better. You have to create an account, but it is free.
Good luck! |

$100 copay...OMG that's outrageous!!!! Ok, I'm kidding....because so does a bunch of other companies because most people should NOT be going to an emergency room.
Stay away from NASE, Health Markets, and Mega (all interconnected one way or another)...that's a given. Also, stay away from 'saver' plans and other limited benefit plans.
The 'best' plan is the one your insurance broker will help you find because companies are different state to state. If there was a 'best' I'd only sell one company, but I sell many different ones depening on the situation. |

Until you are able to afford some of the major carriers, you may consider a much lower cost alternative like a health benefits discount program. They work with doctors, dentist and pharmacies to get your health care for much less . Also there is no wating period or restrictions on pre existing conditions.

Different plans are for different people. I do not think you can say there is a bad one. Some have higher deductables or out of pocket but those cost you less so it is a wash. You get what you pay for.
I would just get many quotes from different companies then pick the best/cheapest one. When researching health insurance you might want to try and bookmark this site for research information, news, articles, insurance quotes, companies, links and more. It should have the resources/links to help you with your question.
